A Hazzard to Remember

A story dossier from the writing desk of The Philosopher Castor.

The Case

James Hazzard is a young private investigator in Grimmstone, a supernatural-noir city that exists somewhere between midnight and 5:25 a.m. The city has a pulse of its own, and its residents have problems that rarely fit neatly into a case file.

The World

Neon rain, impossible detours, old bargains, and people looking for somewhere to belong. Grimmstone does not stop moving when James leaves a room. Every street has another story unfolding just beyond his view.

What Makes It Different

The story balances the everyday life of a strange city with escalating mysteries. Its guiding rhythm is ordinary, then unusual, then wrong. Humor and danger are allowed to share the same sidewalk.

Development Notes

This is an active novella project with a working target of roughly 25,000 words. The final manuscript, publication date, and purchase information have not been announced.
